Feel The Light - April Counterfeit Kit

No - you're not seeing things. Yes - I really am back!

I've been completely off the grid for the past month and a half, dealing with a handful of things that have been happening behind the scenes in my personal life. I want to thank everyone who sent emails, left blog comments or sent Facebook messages to check in on me. This community really is the best and I could feel your hugs and prayers from miles away!! I'm okay, just very preoccupied with other areas of my life at the moment. Scrapbooking, blogging and internet presence in general had to take a backseat for awhile. Though I was grateful to have time to focus on the things that needed my time and attention, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss interacting with all of you and making a mess in my scrap room. It feels good to be back.

What better way to jumpstart a creative kick than with a new scrapbooking kit, right?!

Today is reveal day over on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge BlogIf you are doing the full blog hop, you should have arrived here after visiting Margie's blog but if you're just joining us now you can head on over here to start from the very beginning!

Photo From A Beautiful Mess
This month we are using the Messy Box kit from A Beautiful Mess as inspiration. As soon as I saw this kit, I did a little happy dance. It's so different from my usual style but so fun and trendy!

Above is my take on the Messy Box kit. The original kit was loaded with black and orange as well as bold, graphic prints. It had a very festive, cheerful vibe to it that I knew I wanted to mimic in my counterfeit version. I don't have very much black or orange in my stash, but I went through my supplies and managed to find a handful of items that fit that color scheme. Here are some close-ups …

the embellishments …

the patterned papers …

I'm calling this kit Feel The Light … the name was inspired by Jennifer Lopez's fantastic new single. Have you heard it yet?! This song has become my anthem for spring 2015 and I just love it!

Next up on the blog hop is Susanne
Be sure to swing by her blog to see how she was inspired by the original kit.

  1. Feel the Light is perfect for your kit and your take on the Messy Box is so great - I'd buy it if I saw it! Although you said you don't have much orange in your stash, you have a lot more than me! I think I managed to track down one single piece of paper but your selection is really inspirational and I know that I would love using it. The addition of those bright and happy embelliles makes this a perfect kit and one that will be sure to kick-start your creativity after your hiatus. You were sorely missed and I for one am very happy to see you back in the fold :-)

  5. Those Freckled Fawn embellishments also caught my eye, but how could they not? Such a bright, summery kit (if only the weather was matching!)
