My best friend Jessica is a huge fan of live music and goes to several concerts a year - sometimes as many as ten! I love seeing her concert pictures pop up on Facebook and, as far as concerts go, I definitely live vicariously through her. I'm a huge fan of music but I'm not such a big fan of live music. I tend to find concerts a little too crowded, noisy and overstimulating for my liking … So, when I'm in the mood for a live show I go to the opera or a musical. When I want to hear Taylor Swift or Sam Smith, I open iTunes on my computer and enjoy their songs without a thousand screeching fans around me. Definitely not the same as having a "live, in-person" experience, but it works for me.
There are a handful of artists, though, that I make exceptions for : The Spice Girls. Stevie Wonder. Kari Jobe.
If you're not familiar with Kari Jobe, she is an American contemporary Christian singer/songwriter and worship leader. I have been a fan of her music for years and her songs have carried me through some of the hardest seasons of my life - health complications, losing my father, moving away from home and adjusting to life on my own in a new city … Kari's songs are the soundtrack to all of that, and more. Whenever one of her songs came on the radio in the car I would turn to my husband and say, "if she ever comes anywhere close to Vancouver we are going! I don't care if the tickets cost a million dollars, we are going!" Kari Jobe has ministered to me so much from a distance that I simply refused to pass up the opportunity to worship with her in person.
Needless to say, when she came to Vancouver for the first time in September we bought tickets. In fact, my husband treated me to the special VIP tickets that included a pre-show Q&A session with Kari and her fiancé, Cody. That's when I used my iPhone to snap the two photos I included on the layout above. They're blurry and not the best quality, but the evening was so special to me that I had to go ahead and scrap them anyway. I know this is going to sound totally cliche, but seeing Kari live was truly a dream come true. She is such a phenomenal singer and a sweet, genuine spirit.
As a side note: I used bits and pieces from the September Clique Kit, "Study Abroad", to create this layout. If you're interested, you can pick up the kit from the Clique shop right here and use coupon code CKSANTAKIT to get it at 50% off the regular listed price. Or, if you're only interested in the patterned paper, you can add a paper pack to your cart here and use code CKSANTA for 30% off your purchase. Both codes valid from November 26th to December 1st.
