Scrapbook Blog Tour - Tag, I'm It!

Last week I was tagged by Fleur Smith at Fleurs by Design to participate in the Scrapbook Blog Tour (also known as the Scrappy Blog Tour and the Scrapbooking Blog Tour). If you don't know Fleur and aren't familiar with her work, you're missing out. Her design resume includes a phenomenal list of companies and manufacturers like Epiphany Crafts, Scrapbook Nerd, Imaginisce and Bind-it-All. It's impossible to visit her blog and leave uninspired.

Fleur sent me a list of questions to answer as part of this tag so let's jump right into it …

1. What am I working on right now?
Technically I'm not working on anything right now as I'm on vacation. Last week, I finished most of my October design team projects for Clique Kits - have you seen the previews of the October kit?! It's incredible! I've also started gathering supplies to make Halloween treat bags for the kids in our neighbourhood. Here's a peek of a Clique Kit layout that will be featured on my blog in the coming weeks ...

2. How long does it take me to create a project?
Most layouts take me about an hour from start to finish, not including the time it takes to choose which supplies I'm going to use. Once I get started on a page I like to work on it until it's done - no walking away and leaving it overnight unless I'm really stumped and feeling uninspired.

3. What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?
Ephemera packs! I don't know why I never bought them before … boy, was I missing out! Having a package of small embellishments that coordinate perfectly with the papers in a given collection is super convenient. My all-time favorite embellishments, though, are flair badges and enamel dots.

4. How does my writing/creating process work?
I usually begin by collecting specific products I want to use. I'll pull out a sheet of patterned paper or a handful of embellishments and then try and think of what kind of layout I want to make with them. Once I have a theme or design in mind, I go through my photos until I find one that will work.

5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired?
Pinterest is a huge source of inspiration for me. I follow several talented designers and love seeing their work pop up in my feed. I also love watching YouTube videos - specifically, scrapbook process videos. Seeing how someone else creates a layout from start to finish usually gives me ideas on how to pull together my own layouts.

6. What is my signature style?
I'm not sure that I really have a signature style; I use a variety of products and colors and techniques in my scrapbooking. I would say that I tend to scrapbook 12x12 layouts using only one photo and I love layers and clusters of embellishments. If I was forced to describe my style I'd say "feminine" … I love hearts and sequins and usually find ways to squeeze them onto every project I make.

Tag 3 scrapbookers …

I've decided to tag three ladies who are active participants over on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog. I'd love to get to know them better and am looking forward to seeing their answers. (Ladies, if you've already done this tag and somehow I missed it on your blog then I apologize! Please leave a link in the comments so I can head over and check it out).
