A Guide Map To National Scrapbook Day ...

Since 1994, scrapbookers around the world have celebrated their hobby and honoured the art of memory keeping with National Scrapbook Day. Officially, National Scrapbook Day falls on the first Saturday in May but in recent years it has become a weekend-long extravaganza, beginning bright & early on Friday and lasting until Sunday evening - or longer for several online events. We should really be calling it International Scrapbook Weekend.

There are store-wide sales, contests, giveaways, blog hops, crops and challenges. It's an exciting time for those of us in the scrappy community, but it can be a little hectic and overwhelming .. especially if this is your first year taking part. For that reason I've put together a little guide map to National Scrapbook Day.

Here's where you'll find me this coming weekend ….

A Cherry On Top will be hosting an online crop on their message board on Saturday May 3rd from 10am to 8pm, EST. There will be tons of fun challenges with gift certificate prizes and "cherry points" (see here for more info) will be distributed. I've been an active member over at ACOT for about a year now and trust me when I say you won't find a friendlier bunch of scrappers. Such a welcoming group! You'll have until May 10th to complete the challenges and upload them for a chance to win.

ScrapyLand will also be hosting an online crop on their message board. The crop will begin on Friday, May 2nd at noon PST and will wrap up on Sunday, May 4th at midnight. There will be tons of challenges and a grand prize pack filled with $100 worth of goodies will be awarded as well as several smaller prizes. The ScrapyLand message board is just getting started so, if you're looking for a smaller community to join, this is the place for you. I'm excited to be a guest designer for ScrapyLand in May and hope to see you there! I have a super fun challenge lined up, so plan to head on over and check out it. (Make sure to mention that Stephanie from Skyline Paperie sent you in the "referral" thread).

Scrapbook Nerd is a fun online community that I recently discovered, and they are hosting an online crop from Friday May 2nd to Sunday May 4th. There will be challenges, games and prizes all weekend long and extra time will be given to complete the challenges. I participated in their last online crop which had a "Cat in the Hat" theme & it was so much fun! I'm looking forward to seeing what they have in store for National Scrapbook Day. There's already an early bird challenge posted for those who want a head start on the fun!

The Counterfeit Kit Challenge design team has been hard at work putting together a "Wonderful World of Color" extravaganza for May 3rd and 4th. There will be posts every two hours featuring challenges, videos and tons of inspiration. There are some fabulous prize sponsors lined up and you'll have until May 16th to complete your projects and enter to win - you should definitely plan to stop by and participate!
